Wilderness Way Girls Camp, or Wilderness Way Camp School, Inc., came into existence in 1991 as fulfillment of Ken and Flora Edgar’s desire to provide a therapeutic camping experience for girls.  For almost 30 years Ken Edgar had worked with boy’s camps and helped start several camps from Florida to Vermont.  In 1991, after helping a boy’s camp in Fair Play, SC, and relocating it to a larger property several miles away, he and Flora saw the opportunity to fulfill their dream of offering the same therapeutic program to girls.  The 84 acre site at Fair Play was ideal for housing a small camp for 20 girls and for experimenting with the concept that this type of experience would be as helpful for girls as it was for boys.
