Day to day programming is planned largely by the group of up to ten girls and their two counselors, called “chiefs”. Group members develop wise decision making skills as they determine when a tent needs replacing and what design the new one will have. They plan creative and balanced menus for the weekly two-day cookout. The group determines educational themes to research as they prepare for adventure outings.Campers grow in their ability to plan, follow their plan and evaluate how the plan worked.Camp supervision reviews group plans to help ensure success and therapeutic value.
Trips
Adventure trips play an important role in relationship building. Our groups plan and take extended canoe camping trips down rivers and by lakes, backpacking trips on trails and bus trips to various locations. These trips range from overnight to three or more weeks in length.
Whole Camp Activities
The whole camp enjoys meals in our dining hall five days a week. Most meals are followed by a time of singing, sharing and other spirit building activities.Numerous seasonal events are planned involving the whole camp.Campwidechapel services are held at our outdoor chapel on Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings.Groups and support staff alternate responsibility for planning and leading these services.
Homesdays
Home time is another important part of our program.Approximately every six weeks campers return home for a four to five day period. This time is used for girls to practice with family what they have been learning or practicing at camp. This includes improving communication, resolving conflicts and developing good routines as well as focusing on family time.
